Rebecca Smith
Approach and background
My aim is to provide you with a safe, confidential space, where you can feel heard and understood.
I will listen carefully and empathically to whatever you bring, and support you in exploring, at your own pace, your thoughts, feelings, and any difficulties, past or present. This is with the aim of helping you build a deeper understanding of yourself and your issues, alleviate distress and make choices that are right for you.
I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of successful therapy. Therefore, I am committed to building a therapeutic relationship with you, based on trust and openness, that offers an opportunity for growth and healing.
I am trained in the Person-Centred Approach to counselling. This approachis based on the belief that you are the expert when it comes to you and your life, and given the right support have the capacity to overcome issues and flourish.
I aim to facilitate a space where you can explore your inner world, tune into your feelings, and get to know yourself on a deeper level. Together, we can start to untangle what you’re experiencing, to give feelings a name and work out what’s going on for you. Through this process you will find more meaning, make effective changes in the way you want to live your life and discover your inner strengths and resources. I believe this will help you heal and recover from past difficulties and lead to living a fuller life.
