Peter Ryan
INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPIST
Approach and background
I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer a warm, supportive, non-judgemental and safe space where individuals can truly feel seen, heard and understood. The way I work is relational, which means that instead of focusing solely on symptoms or specific therapeutic techniques; the relationship between us becomes an important part of the work. This approach allows for exploration of relational patterns, emotional experiences and ways of relating to both self and others. Through this process you can gain greater self-awareness, identify and shift unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving, improve emotional wellbeing, and create healthier more fulfilling relationships.
Prior to training as a therapist, I spent 17 years working in a community setting supporting individuals who regularly faced challenges with substance misuse, homelessness, mental health crises and familial conflict, often leading to involvement with the justice system.
Training, qualifications, and experience
I completed my training in Ireland and was fortunate to work with and support a diverse range of clients, each with their own unique experiences. This opportunity strengthened my ability to work with a variety of issues and concerns, helped to develop adaptability and provided me with invaluable insights. Since relocating to the UK I have been working in private practice, where I have had the privilege of working with people from diverse backgrounds, including individuals from all over the world. My training and experience to date have equipped me to work with a wide range of concerns.
Whether you are exploring identity, facing relationship difficulties, navigating neurodiversity challenges, or working through feelings of shame, low self-esteem, anxiety or depression, my aim is to help you develop awareness and new perspectives, and to empower you to make meaningful changes in your life.
As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to their ethical framework.
