How We Can Help
Whether you are looking for individual psychotherapy, couples counselling, or family therapy, we will receive you with care, kindness and expertise. You may require short-term counselling, such as when processing a recent difficult situation. However, you may need long-term psychotherapy to help process deeper complexities. You decide when you are ready to finish with your therapist.
Typically, therapy is weekly, fortnightly, or twice weekly. Whether you are looking for face-to-face counselling or psychotherapy sessions, telephone sessions, or online, we provide a range of options to support your path to healing. Please contact us.
“The therapeutic relationship is not just a means to an end, but an end in itself. It is through the relationship that healing occurs.”

Psychotherapy Services at The Brixton Practice
At The Brixton Practice, we are predominantly humanistic-based psychotherapists, offering integrative, Gestalt and existential/transpersonal therapy. We also have some non-humanistic therapists working at the centre - psychoanalysts, CBT therapists, and psychologists. We make sure we work with you to find the most suitable therapist, whether you are looking for individual therapy, couples counselling, family therapy or supervision.
Individual Psychotherapy
The aim of individual therapy is to help improve the causes and symptoms which have a negative impact on your wellbeing. We can help you find a counsellor or psychotherapist that is a good match for you and your needs, as well as somebody you feel comfortable and confident working with. We emphasise a radically-relational approach as part of our practice. Seeking individual therapy can be immensely supportive, whether that’s short-term counselling or long-term psychotherapy.
All of our therapists offer in-person individual therapy at The Brixton Practice. Most of our therapists also offer online sessions, with some therapists offering telephone appointments.
Family Therapy
Family therapy - also known as systemic therapy - is a specific way of working, assisting those in a family system to work through any issues they may be having. We help family members understand their impact on each other. We have clinical psychologists who lead on family work, whilst our qualified psychotherapists can offer individual therapy to complement the family therapy.
We have psychologists and psychotherapists who are qualified to work with children and families. This work is primarily practiced in person, but we can offer online sessions if necessary.
Couples Therapy
The purpose of couples therapy is to help couples identify factors contributing to conflict, rebuild trust, and offer healthier ways of relating. It can help you resolve past relationship trauma and any insecure attachments - specifically those with your parents and primary carers - that are affecting your current relationships. In many cases, the result is a continuation of the relationship. However, couples therapy intervention can also help bring a relationship to a close in the best way possible.
Couples therapy can support those in any form of relationship with another person. For example, a mother and son, two siblings, a married couple. It is for both romantic relationships and any two people who want to work on their relationship.
Some of our therapists offer couples therapy, and both face-to-face and online sessions are available.
Supervision
At The Brixton Practice, we offer face-to-face and online supervision. Whether you work as a trainee, qualified counsellor, psychotherapist, or work in a related field and are looking for clinical supervision, we have qualified supervisors available.
We have supervisors for your particular modality, to support you through your training and practice. You can also receive supervision from our supervisors trained in other modalities - offering different theories and perspectives - as you develop in your practice.
Supervision is a collaborative process. Whilst our supervisors bring a wealth of knowledge to the table, we balance that with respecting your expertise in your client work.
